An American Company. We Train for Families, Not for Police Work.
K9 Dogs for Sale: Civilian Protection Dogs for Private Homes
In the United States the letters K9 are most familiar from the side of a police car, so the phrase "K9 dogs for sale" raises a fair question: is a police dog what a family needs? The dogs we place are civilian protection dogs, matched to the household they will live in. Slovak Protection Dogs USA is an American company with its own training center in Slovakia.

What K9 Actually Means
K9, sometimes written K-9, is the word canine spelled the way it sounds, and American police and military units use it for their dog teams. The American Kennel Club describes the German Shepherd as loyal, confident, courageous and steady. It is also among the most widely used breeds in police and military work worldwide, which is how the letters and the breed became linked in the public mind.
K9 is not a qualification or a level of training, and any seller can use it for any dog he is selling. What matters is what a particular dog was trained to do and how far that training goes, and every one of our protection dogs for sale is described in those terms, one dog at a time.

A Police K9 and a Civilian Protection Dog Do Different Jobs
A police or military K9 belongs to an agency: he is taken to a situation the agency has chosen, handled by a professional, and asked to search, track, detect, or stop a person who is running from the police. None of that happens in a kitchen at breakfast, at a birthday party in the yard, or at the front door when a plumber arrives.
A civilian protection dog is on duty because he lives inside the family he protects, and off duty because almost nothing in an ordinary week requires him to act. The capability that decides whether he belongs in a household is the one nobody films, and it is the one we test for: noticing something, deciding that it is ordinary, and settling back down without being told.
Responsibility falls differently as well: an agency has a whole system standing behind its dog, while in a private house the owner carries that responsibility alone. Peter spent nine years inside Slovakia's prison service, running the working-dog program at the Leopoldov Cynology Centre, and has placed dogs with families since 2014, so the difference between the two jobs is something he has seen from the inside. A dog bought for a property rather than for a family is a different question, and our security dogs for sale page explains which of the two we place.

Why a Dog Trained for Duty or for Sport Does Not Belong in a Family Home
Two things go wrong when a dog trained for duty work or for the sport field is sold to a private household.
The first is what he learned to bite. Many dogs offered as protection dogs have only ever worked on a sport field, against a man wearing a padded sleeve on the same arm, in a routine that never changes. The international trial rules are explicit: "In all protection exercises, the dog is allowed only to grip the provided protection sleeve." Biting an unprotected part of the helper means immediate disqualification, and a dog rewarded for years on a single piece of equipment has learned equipment rather than judgment.
The second is keeping him at a duty standard. That standard holds only where someone works the dog almost every day and knows exactly what to look for, and a household that cannot do the same will not hold it either. His reliability slips gradually, and nobody living with him can tell how far it has already slipped. What a finished adult dog actually knows on the day he arrives is set out on our trained dogs for sale page.

What We Place Instead
Slovakia has bred working German Shepherds for generations. We select almost exclusively from Slovak working lines, with the occasional standout dog from a neighboring European program. Every dog we place is a trained adult, selected in person in Slovakia and delivered to your home.
What arrives at your door is a finished dog, not a project. That means complete obedience on and off leash, settled house manners, and protection work tested against real behavior rather than a rehearsed routine on a sport field. Our dogs are tested in real environments – houses, cars, crowds, unfamiliar streets. Our training method page sets out how those dogs are prepared.
Because every dog is selected and trained individually, we place no more than 12 dogs a year. Our German Shepherd protection dogs page explains why this breed carries both the duty role and the family role, and what requirements a dog has to meet before we breed from him.
